Explanation of How Hashimoto’s Disease Looks is Important

In the previous article, we looked at the numerous autoimmune diseases that are a treat to anyone’s body when there is a problem with an immune system attacking it.

In the case of autoimmune thyroiditis, the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. This gland is responsible for producing hormones that have a further impact on metabolism. As a part of this metabolism, influence is the heart rate and the speed that the body is losing calories from the food.

Research still cannot provide one exact cause, because many factors can lead to this health problem. That’s why it is also a somewhat complicated aspect that requires a proper Hashimoto’s disease treatment. It doesn’t always mean sing immune-suppressive medicine because I have seen many clients that have even more problems with them. In the case of a young woman, she took far too many antibiotics as prescribed. That leads to a problem that she regularly got ill and always felt sick and struggling with the easiest daily functions. Of course, functional medicine can only support and make it easier to fight the condition, but it is very important.

Factors that play a role in developing Hashimoto’s disease:

  • Hormones

Taking a look at statistics and my personal experience, most of the people who have Hashimoto’s disease or are more likely to develop it, are women. Mainly it has to do with sex hormones that swing way more than in the male population, for example, due to menstruations and pregnancy.

  • High iodine level

Iodine is a trace element for making thyroid hormones can trigger the disease.

  • Exposure to radiation

Some cases show that many people who have thyroid disease had some exposure to radiation, for example, after the Chernobyl disaster or an explosion of Nagasaki auto bomb. Radiation might also be a part of a treatment for blood cancer (Hodgkin’s disease).

Hashimoto’s disease symptoms

It is essential to understand that this disease doesn’t happen in one day. The same goes for diseases that might take years to appear. It is a big reason why it is so hard to diagnose.

  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Enlarged thyroid (goiter)
  • Constipation
  • Feeling cold and not being able to get warm
