Benefits of Eating Breakfast
Ironically, many people who are on a weight loss diet don’t eat breakfast, thinking they will lose weight faster that way. But studies consistently show that those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight or obese, whereas those who eat breakfast tend to be leaner and more likely to maintain weight over time.
They are making it harder for their body to lose weight.
The body remains in fasting state so the body’s metabolism continues to be at a slow rate. That means the body continues to burn very few calories.
In addition, skipping breakfast can increase your body’s insulin response, which in turn increases fat storage and weight gain. In fact, skipping breakfast actually increases your risk of obesity.
A study, presented by Dr. Gladys Block (2001), at the University of California at Berkley a key finding of this study was that even people who ate “ready-to-eat” cereal for breakfast had lower body weights and overall healthier diets — consuming less fat and cholesterol and higher daily intakes of fiber — than those who skipped breakfast or ate other types of breakfast foods.
The longer you delay giving your body food after it has been on a state of fasting, the longer it takes for the body to burn a lot of calories.
